Costco Pulls Two Popular Items After Plastic Found in Caesar Dressing
Costco has issued a new recall for 2025, and this time it affects two refrigerated items that many members grab for quick lunches and weeknight meals. The issue comes down to one ingredient: the Caesar dressing used in both products may contain small pieces of plastic, according to the supplier Ventura Foods.
What’s Being Recalled

Costco confirmed that two items are included in the November 2025 recall:
- Caesar Salad (Lot #19927)
- Chicken Sandwich with Caesar Salad (Lot #11444)
Both were sold in select locations across the Midwest, Northeast, and Southeast. If you picked up either item with Sell By dates between October 17 and November 9, 2025, your package may be part of the recall.
The plastic risk comes only from the dressing, not the chicken or greens. Still, because the items are ready to eat, Costco is treating the situation seriously.
What to Do If You Bought One
Costco’s instructions are simple:
- Don’t eat it.
- Bring it back to any Costco warehouse for a refund.
You don’t need your receipt — Costco tracks purchases through your membership. As of now, there are no reported injuries, but swallowing even a small piece of plastic can be dangerous, especially for kids.
Why This Recall Is Getting Attention
People and Parade quickly picked up the story and pointed out how it adds to a busy year of food safety alerts. Several retailers have already dealt with recalls involving ready-to-eat meals, so Costco’s update grabbed attention fast.
TheStreet also noted that Costco pushed out wider communication after getting new details about the dressing contamination. The pressure on suppliers has been high this year, and retailers are moving faster when potential issues come up.
This wasn’t Costco’s only major recall in 2025. Earlier in the summer, the company pulled certain Kirkland Signature Prosecco bottles over concerns they could break. The situations are different, but the trend is the same: suppliers report a problem, and Costco alerts members right away.
Why Ready-to-Eat Foods Are Being Recalled More Often
Items like salads and sandwiches rely on multiple ingredients coming from different facilities. If one part of the supply chain has a problem — like this dressing — the entire product gets pulled. It’s why these recalls sometimes feel sudden, even though the issue traces back to one specific component.
The Bottom Line for Shoppers
If you’ve picked up a Caesar Salad or the Chicken Sandwich with Caesar Salad in the last few weeks, check your lot number and Sell By date. If it matches the recall, return it for a refund and throw out anything already opened.
Costco says unaffected batches are still safe, and new shipments are on shelves. The company also continues to post recall updates on its website and member notices, so it’s worth staying aware — especially if you buy a lot of prepared meals.
