Brampton Man Charged for Drunk Driving on Highway 401
A 20-year-old Brampton man is facing charges after allegedly speeding past a marked Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) cruiser on Highway 401 in Mississauga while under the influence.

The OPP’s Highway Safety Division shared the incident on social media Saturday, detailing the charges of speeding and impaired operation of a vehicle. This incident underscores the risks of impaired driving and highlights the consequences for those caught engaging in such dangerous behavior.
According to police, the young driver allegedly sped past a fully marked cruiser, which immediately attracted the officers’ attention. Officers quickly pulled over his dark grey BMW and issued charges on-site. In addition, they impounded the vehicle and suspended the driver’s licence for 90 days.
The OPP used the incident to emphasize the importance of road safety, especially on busy highways like the 401, where the risks of impaired driving are magnified. Furthermore, the OPP reminded the public that Ontario law requires a 90-day licence suspension for those caught impaired, while vehicles involved are subject to a two-week impoundment.
