Ontario Pizzeria Wins Awards Twice in One Week

An Ontario pizzeria wins awards at two national pizza competitions held just days apart, putting Burlington’s Son of a Peach Pizzeria on the map for top-tier pies.
Chef Bart Nadherny, owner of Son of a Peach and The Sunshine Doughnut Co., claimed first place in the Traditional category at the RC Show in Toronto. The win came with a $3,000 prize and bragging rights in one of Canada’s biggest food events.
Barely a week later, Chef Bart packed his pizza gear and headed to Montreal. There, he was crowned Chef of the Year at the Canadian Pizza Summit — another top culinary event attracting chefs from across the country. Both wins now qualify him for the 2026 International Pizza Challenge, where he’ll represent Canada on a global stage.

The Son of a Peach team made a major impact at two of Canada’s top pizza events in just one week.
At the RC Show in Toronto, Chef Bart Nadherny won first place in the Traditional Pizza category. He impressed judges with his handcrafted dough and well-balanced flavours. The win brought him a $3,000 cash prize and top recognition at one of Canada’s largest foodservice events.
A few days later, at the Canadian Pizza Summit in Montreal, Chef Bart earned the title of Chef of the Year. Judges praised his skill, creativity, and consistent execution. The award secured him a spot in the 2026 International Pizza Challenge, where he will represent Canada.
Sous Chef Jie Yan also earned third place in the Creative Pizza category at the RC Show. His unique approach to flavour and presentation highlighted the depth of talent on the Son of a Peach team.
Ontario Pizzeria Wins Awards and National Praise
Chef Bart shared his thoughts on the back-to-back recognition:
“This is a moment I’ll never forget. We’ve always focused on putting love and creativity into every pizza we serve. To be recognized twice in one week is more than I ever expected.”
Son of a Peach Pizzeria is located at 2049 Pine Street, Burlington, and has long been a favourite for its unique pies and fresh ingredients. With recent wins and a trip to an international competition ahead, now might be the best time to see what all the hype is about.
