Demetres Adds Four Milk Cakes Across the GTA, From Biscoff to Pistachio Kunafa
Toronto’s dessert menus are getting a little milkier. Demetres has added four Milk Cakes to its GTA restaurants, with flavours built around caramel, Lotus Biscoff, pistachio kunafa and fresh strawberries.

Each dessert starts with a soft sponge that absorbs sweetened condensed milk, evaporated milk and regular milk. Vanilla cream sauce finishes every version, while the toppings take the cakes in different directions.
Demetres is promoting the collection as a limited-edition release. Its current menu lists all four cakes, and the launch materials put prices between $17.25 and $19.75.

The Four Milk Cakes And Their Prices
The milk-rich sponge stays consistent across the collection. The choice comes down to the finishing ingredients and how much caramel, crunch, chocolate or fruit you want with it.
- Tres Amigos ($17.25): Butter caramel and a dash of cinnamon give this cake a more traditional tres leches flavour profile. It comes with vanilla cream sauce.
- Biscoff The Charts ($17.25): Lotus Biscoff sauce brings spiced caramel-cookie notes, while a Biscoff cookie crumble adds texture. Vanilla cream sauce completes the serving.
- Dubai Felicia ($19.75): The highest-priced version combines pistachio kunafa and Belgian milk chocolate sauce. It also includes vanilla cream sauce.
- Berry Me In It ($17.25): Fresh strawberries lead this fruit-focused option. Demetres pairs the berries with the same milk cake base and vanilla cream sauce.
What Makes Milk Cake Different From A Regular Slice
Milk Cake gets its texture from the liquid that the sponge absorbs after baking. Instead of relying on icing alone, the dessert carries sweetness and moisture throughout the cake itself.
Demetres uses three types of milk in its base: sweetened condensed milk, evaporated milk and regular milk. The condensed milk brings sweetness, while the other two contribute to the cake’s soft finish. A cream topping adds another layer.
The format has roots beyond this local menu. Tres leches is familiar across Latin America, while related trileçe cakes appear in Turkey and the Balkans. Contemporary versions have also taken on ingredients such as pistachio, saffron, rose and spiced cookies.
Demetres takes a straightforward approach: keep the three-milk base and change the toppings. That leaves room for a caramel-and-cinnamon version alongside combinations inspired by other dessert trends.
The Cakes Are Made At Demetres’ Woodbridge Manufactory
According to the company, the new cakes come from its Manufactory in Woodbridge. The central facility handles cakes, sauces, doughs and other components for Demetres restaurants.
Demetres says the site covers 20,000 square feet and supports in-house recipe development. That production setup lets the chain introduce new dishes while preparing much of its menu centrally.
The Milk Cakes join a dessert-focused menu of crêpes, Belgian waffles, sundaes and house-made ice cream. Demetres traces its roots in the GTA to 1989.
Where To Try Demetres’ New Milk Cakes
The chain has restaurants in Toronto and nearby communities, including Brampton, Burlington, Markham, Mississauga, Richmond Hill and Whitby. Toronto locations include Danforth, the Distillery District and Shops at Don Mills.
There is one location caveat: Demetres currently lists its Oakville restaurant as temporarily closed for renovations. Check the status and opening hours of your chosen branch before making the trip.
Demetres has described the collection as limited-edition but has not published an end date. Availability and ordering options may differ by restaurant, so it is sensible to confirm a specific flavour in advance.
The three-milk recipe contains dairy. Guests with allergies or other dietary restrictions should ask the restaurant about full ingredients and possible cross-contact before ordering.
You can find addresses and hours through the Demetres locations page. The current Demetres menu also lists all four Milk Cakes.
