Canada’s Great Kitchen Party Returns to Toronto With Eight Chefs and Live Music

· ·

Canada’s Great Kitchen Party returns to Toronto on November 5, bringing a chef competition, Canadian wines and live music to The Carlu.

The 2026 event marks the organization’s 20th anniversary. Eight chefs will compete for a place alongside Lorenzo Loseto at the Canadian Culinary Championship in Ottawa.

Jim Cuddy and Steven Page will perform, while comedian Shaun Majumder hosts the evening. Guests can taste dishes from the contenders as the competition unfolds.

Eight Toronto Chefs Are Competing For One Spot

This is more than a multi-course dinner. Each competing chef will prepare a signature dish for guests, with a Toronto team position on the line.

The eight contenders span restaurants and dining concepts across the city and beyond. The announced competitors are:

  • Davide Ciavattella — Don Alfonso 1890
  • Stuart Cameron — Bocado Restaurant
  • Adam Ryan — Azura
  • Marco Zandona — Via Allegro
  • Vedangi Rane — Aangan
  • Robbie Robinson — Riley’s Fish + Steak
  • MJ — 156 OneFiveSix
  • Brian Kang — No Vacancy

The winner will join Lorenzo Loseto, whom the organizers have named Toronto’s Chef of Distinction. Loseto previously won the Canadian Culinary Championship in 2014.

One ticket detail deserves attention: the event website says only VIP ticket holders will receive a dish from Loseto. Regular admission still includes dishes from the competing chefs.

A New Format For The National Championship

The anniversary season changes the competition format. Instead of sending one chef per city, each of the ten participating cities will send two.

One chef receives the Chef of Distinction appointment. The other earns a place through the local qualifier, giving each city a two-person team.

Those teams will also represent either Team East or Team West at the national competition in Ottawa in January 2027. Toronto joins St. John’s, Montréal, Ottawa and Winnipeg on Team East.

The new structure adds another layer to the competition. Toronto’s November result will determine who gets to compete nationally alongside Loseto.

Jim Cuddy and Steven Page Lead The Music Lineup

The culinary contest shares the stage with two Canadian performers. Jim Cuddy, known for his work with Blue Rodeo and the Jim Cuddy Band, will appear alongside Steven Page, formerly of Barenaked Ladies.

Shaun Majumder will emcee, tying together the food, music and competition portions of the evening.

The event also features Canadian wine selections. The organizer says guests can expect pairings alongside the competing chefs’ dishes, with beer and spirits also highlighted on its Toronto event page.

Specific performance times and the evening’s full schedule have not been published on the event page. Guests should check their booking details for arrival instructions.

The Evening Also Supports Youth Programs

Canada’s Great Kitchen Party began as Gold Medal Plates and now runs culinary qualifiers in ten Canadian cities. Its events combine regional food talent with fundraising for youth-focused programs.

In Toronto, proceeds will support MusiCounts, which helps expand music education, and Spirit North, which creates sport opportunities. FoodShare is the local food-focused beneficiary.

The organization reports raising approximately $19.9 million since its inception. The anniversary event continues that fundraising effort while putting Toronto chefs in the spotlight.

How To Book Tickets

Individual tickets are listed at $600 on the official Toronto event page. The organizer also offers tables for eight, including corporate and VIP options, plus larger partnership packages.

For ticket options, visit the official Toronto event page. Questions can go to toronto@greatkitchenparty.com or 226-678-0356.

Before buying, review the dietary policy and ticket inclusions carefully. Guests interested in Loseto’s dish should check VIP availability rather than assuming it comes with general admission.
