10 Toronto Patios To Visit This Summer

Toronto patio season is back, and the city’s restaurants are making the most of it with outdoor spaces built for long dinners, casual catchups, after-work drinks, and late-night plans. This year’s lineup goes beyond the usual sidewalk setup, with rooftop Portuguese plates, MICHELIN-recognized Thai BBQ, Japanese aburi sushi near the waterfront, ramen on College Street, and drink-led patios in Little Italy.

Bar Pompette

Bar Pompette brings its 35-seat patio back in May, adding an outdoor setting to one of Toronto’s most respected cocktail programs. Recognized by North America’s 50 Best Bars, the French-inspired bar is a strong choice for after-work drinks, late-night plans, or a weekend stop without needing to book ahead.

The patio is walk-in only. Hours run Sunday to Thursday from 6:00 PM to 1:00 AM, and Friday to Saturday from 6:00 PM to 2:00 AM.

Favorites Thai brings MICHELIN Bib Gourmand-recognized Thai cooking to one of Ossington’s most in-demand patios. The outdoor space seats around 18 to 20 guests and runs from May through September, making it a strong fit for planned dinners, group nights, or a course-by-course meal.

Open Tuesday to Saturday from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM, guests can order à la carte or choose the Chef’s Choice menu at $100 per person, with an optional wine pairing for $45.

Minami Toronto

Minami Toronto brings aburi sushi, Japanese plates, sake, wine, and cocktails to an outdoor space near the waterfront. Open from April through October, the patio seats about 40 to 50 guests and works well for date nights, after-work plans, or social dinners.

Guests can expect signature aburi-style sushi, Mini Poke Nachos, Truffle Dashi Pork Gyoza, seasonal plates, and Happy Hour offerings.

Taberna LX

Taberna LX brings Portuguese dining to a rooftop terrace in Toronto’s west end, complete with a 26-foot mural by Canadian artist Madison van Rijn. The rooftop seats about 44 guests for à la carte dining on a first-come, first-served basis.

It is also available for private bookings and full venue buyouts. Menu highlights include Cafe Steak, Francesinha, Salt Cod Fritter, Seafood Rice, Paixao, and Porto ~ Cola.

Lyla

Lyla’s redesigned patio returns in early May, weather permitting, bringing Queen West a stylish outdoor space for lunch, brunch, Aperitivo, and dinner. The Mediterranean-driven menu includes raw bar items, handmade pasta, premium meats, cocktails, and brunch dishes.

Guests can expect dishes such as Beef Tartare, Cavatelli all’Amatriciana, Hamachi Crudo, Linguine all’Aragosta, Pain Perdu, Shakshuka, and Steak & Eggs.

Little Sister

Little Sister brings patio dining back to both its Yonge Street and Portland locations in mid-May, weather permitting. The Yonge location will offer a 45-seat street-facing patio, while Portland has a 20-seat front patio and a refreshed back patio for private group dining.

Guests can expect Indonesian and Dutch-Indonesian flavours, the “Watermelon, Sugar… High” cocktail, daily Happy Jam specials from 4:30 PM to 6:30 PM, and seasonal dishes such as cucumber watermelon salad.

Naari Thai BBQ

Naari Thai BBQ brings Southern Thai flavours and live-fire cooking to a 20-seat patio in Little Italy. The menu includes BBQ Coconut Chicken Satay, Charred Scallops, grilled meats with sticky rice, and wok-fired dishes.

Cocktails such as Gloomy Daizy, Tamarind Honeycomb, and Mango Chipotle add another reason to visit for dinner and drinks.

Tondou Ramen

Tondou Ramen brings a casual Yatai-inspired patio to College Street, with seating for up to 36 guests. It is a good pick for ramen, late lunches, casual dinners, and lower-key patio plans.

Menu highlights include Tonkotsu Special Ramen, Okinawa Soba, Seafood Tonkotsu Ramen, and Hiyashi Chuka, a cold ramen option arriving in May.

Bar Allegro

Bar Allegro offers a 50-seat glass veranda, with its outdoor patio expected to follow in May. The space is built for aperitivo, cocktails, snacks, and slower evenings on College Street.

It is open seven days a week on a walk-in-only basis, with hours from Sunday to Thursday, 5:00 PM to 11:00 PM, and Friday to Saturday until 1:00 AM.

Odd Duck

Odd Duck is set to open its patio in mid to late May with eight covered and screened-in tables. Seating is first-come, first-served, making it a relaxed option for casual warm-weather dinners.

Hours run Tuesday from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM and Wednesday to Saturday from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM. Guests can expect Sarah’s Slaw with heirloom carrots and golden kiwi vinaigrette, turon, and a cocktail menu that changes through the season.

Toronto’s patio season has plenty of range this year. Bar Pompette and Bar Allegro are strong picks for drinks in Little Italy. Favorites Thai, Naari, and Little Sister bring spice, smoke, and shareable plates. Minami adds a polished Japanese option near the waterfront, while Taberna LX brings rooftop Portuguese dining to the west end. Lyla works well for brunch, lunch, Aperitivo, and dinner, and Tondou keeps things casual with ramen on College Street.
