Bebot Dance Challenge Toronto Brings Filipino Music, Dance and Culture to Scarborough
Apl.de.Ap heads to Toronto for the Bebot Dance Challenge finale at Seafood City Scarborough on August 25
TORONTO, ON — August 2026 — Filipino music, dance and culture are coming to Scarborough this August.
The Bebot Dance Challenge Toronto will hold its Canadian finale at Seafood City Scarborough on Tuesday, August 25.
The event is organized by Seafood City Canada and Apl.de.Ap Foundation International. It celebrates Filipino creativity through music, dance and community.
Nearly 20 years after “Bebot” became a global anthem of Filipino pride, the song continues to connect generations.
This time, it is inspiring dancers across the Filipino Canadian community.
Apl.de.Ap Joins the Toronto Finale
The Bebot Dance Challenge Canada finale will take place on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, at 4:00 p.m.
The event will be held at Seafood City Scarborough, located at 20 Lebovic Ave #773.
Finalists will perform live in front of Apl.de.Ap. The Grammy Award winning artist and Black Eyed Peas member will help select the winning dancer.
Meanwhile, Toronto personality MC Preach, also known as Aaron Horner, will host the celebration.
DJ Arthur Tan will also travel from the Philippines for the event. In addition, a surprise Toronto based female DJ will join the lineup.
Together, the performers will connect Filipino talent from Toronto and the Philippines. The event will also highlight both established and emerging creatives.
From Seafood City Aisles to the Dance Floor
The Bebot Dance Challenge takes a different approach to competition.
Instead of using a traditional stage, contestants were invited to dance inside Seafood City Scarborough.
Participants created their own dance videos to “Bebot” inside the store. They then shared their entries on Instagram with @seafoodcitycanada and @weareaplfi as collaborators.
Entries were accepted through Saturday, August 22.
As a result, an everyday grocery space became a platform for Filipino Canadian creativity.
The challenge also welcomed dancers with different backgrounds and experience levels.
In addition, one contestant will receive the People’s Choice Award. The eligible entry with the most combined likes and shares will win a $150 Seafood City Gift Card.
The People’s Choice winner will also automatically advance to the live final round.
At the finale, the Grand Prize Winner will receive a $500 Seafood City Gift Card. They will also receive exclusive signed Bebot x Seafood City merchandise.
Meanwhile, the runner up will receive a Seafood City Gift Card and surprise gifts.
Filipino Culture Takes Centre Stage
“Bebot” has remained familiar to Filipinos across generations.
For many who grew up with the Black Eyed Peas, the song represented Filipino identity on a global stage.
Today, younger audiences continue to discover the track. They are also creating new ways to interpret it through dance and social media.
The Bebot Dance Challenge brings these generations together.
More importantly, it gives local dancers a chance to perform and connect with other Filipino creatives.

The Toronto celebration also includes a special collaboration with Kalamansi Collective.
The Toronto based Filipino lifestyle brand creates apparel, merchandise and cultural experiences inspired by Filipino identity and community.
Seafood City and Kalamansi Collective previously worked together in 2025.
Their Late Night Madness events brought together Filipino food, music and culture in a different grocery shopping experience.
Now, the brands are collaborating again for the Bebot celebration.
This time, the partnership has an added purpose.
A majority of proceeds from the exclusive Bebot merchandise will benefit Apl.de.Ap Foundation International. The funds will support the foundation’s work to create opportunities for young people.

A Celebration of Filipino Talent in Toronto
Seafood City has grown beyond its role as a Filipino supermarket.
Since opening its first store in National City, California, in 1989, the brand has expanded its role in Filipino communities across North America.
Today, its stores also serve as spaces for food, music, entertainment, entrepreneurship and cultural events.
The Bebot Dance Challenge continues that tradition.
It brings together Filipino Canadian dancers, local creatives and international Filipino talent.
It also connects a Toronto Filipino brand with a nonprofit focused on youth opportunities.
For the Scarborough community, the event offers a chance to celebrate Filipino music and culture in a new way.
And the celebration will not end in Scarborough.
The event marks the first stop in a larger Bebot Dance Challenge series. More Seafood City communities are expected to take part in future celebrations.
