The Toronto International Tap Dance Festival 2024, produced by Toffan Rhythm Projects, is bringing the best of the tap dance world to the city. Here’s a sneak peek at some of the exciting highlights you can expect:
- Restorative Culture (Thursday, August 15). Kick off the festival with a special screening of “Restorative Culture,” a documentary exploring the journey of Indigenous tap dancer Johnathan Morin. Followed by a live performance and Q&A session.
- Genesis (Friday, August 16). Experience the artistry of Brenda Bufalino, a tap dance pioneer, alongside debut commissions from celebrated dancer Ryan Foley and rising star Victoria Miller.
- Convergence (Saturday, August 17). Enjoy a dynamic double bill featuring Danny Nielsen’s “In Conversation” and Michela Marino Lerman’s band Love Movement, blending jazz, tap, and more.
- Rhythm Lives: Honouring The Legacy Of Ethel Bruneau (Sunday, August 18). Celebrate the life and legacy of Canadian tap icon Ethel Bruneau with a multi-faceted performance curated by Travis and Tanya Knights.
