Viral Christmas Recipe: Honey Halloumi -A Sweet and Savory Delight
Perfect for appetizers or snacks, this Honey Halloumi recipe combines the salty, crispy texture of halloumi with the sweet, zesty flavors of honey and lemon.

Ingredients
- Halloumi Cheese: 600 g, sliced into 1 cm-thick pieces
- Honey: 5 tablespoons
- Lemon: 1 medium (juiced)
- Thyme: 4 sprigs (fresh leaves)
- Olive Oil: 2–3 tablespoons
Instructions
1. Prep the Dressing
Mix honey, lemon juice, and thyme leaves in a small bowl until smooth.
2. Layer and Marinate
- Arrange a single layer of halloumi slices in an airtight container.
- Drizzle the honey-lemon dressing over the top. Repeat the layers, adding dressing each time.
- Pour any remaining dressing over the final layer. Seal the container and refrigerate for at least 1 hour (overnight is best). Flip the container occasionally for even marination.
3. Sear the Halloumi
- Heat olive oil in a pan over medium heat. Add halloumi slices in a single layer, ensuring they don’t touch.
- Sear for 2–3 minutes on one side until golden brown. Flip and cook the other side for about 1 minute.
- Spoon over a bit of the dressing to glaze the cheese as it finishes cooking.
4. Plate and Serve
Transfer the seared halloumi to a serving plate. Drizzle any remaining dressing over the top for extra flavor. Garnish with fresh thyme sprigs if desired.
Tips
- Marination: The longer, the better. Overnight marination enhances the flavors.
- Heat Management: Use medium heat to achieve a golden crust without burning.
- Storage: Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 3 days.
.Enjoy this Honey Halloumi as a standout appetizer, or pair it with a fresh salad for a delicious meal
