McDonald’s Monopoly Golden Edition Returns to Canada With Over $400 Million in Prizes

The gold-themed promotion runs on specially marked packaging through Nov 2, 2026, with app play and most prize claims open until Nov 23, 2026.

McDonald’s Monopoly is back in Canada, and this year’s version swaps the familiar board-game look for gold packaging, a redesigned in-app experience and a prize pool the company says is worth more than $400 million.

The 2026 Monopoly Golden Edition began Sep 29, 2026 at participating McDonald’s restaurants nationwide. Game pieces are scheduled to appear on specially marked packaging through Nov 2, 2026, or while supplies last. Codes can be entered in the McDonald’s app until Nov 23, 2026. The rollout follows other national limited-time campaigns, including the chain’s International Menu Heist covered by Hungry 416 last year.

The gold-themed prize lineup

The headline prizes lean into the new look. McDonald’s lists a Quarter Pounder collectible crafted from a quarter pound of 10-karat gold, three McDonald’s for Life prizes and a weekly $25,000 cash prize available through in-app play. The broader pool also includes vehicles, food prizes, rewards points, travel, gift cards and shopping sprees from partners such as Best Buy and Ardene.

The campaign’s official fine print defines McDonald’s for Life as two $15 visits per week for 25 years. The first year is paid through a McDonald’s Card, with the remaining value paid by cheque. The gold Quarter Pounder is a collectible, not a menu item, and comes with an appraisal.

Agency tms, which developed the Golden Edition campaign with McDonald’s Canada, says the prize partnerships also include Nissan and Bombardier. The stated $400-million figure represents the total pool of available prizes, not a single cash jackpot.

How the 2026 game works

Players peel game stamps from specially marked McDonald’s packaging. A game piece can reveal an instant-win prize or a property needed for a Collect to Win set. Each stamp also carries a code that can be entered or scanned in the McDonald’s app for Bonus Play.

  • Instant Win: A stamp may reveal food, MyMcDonald’s Rewards points or another prize.
  • Collect to Win: Players complete a property or airport set to claim the prize tied to that combination.
  • Bonus Play: Entering or scanning a code in the app creates another chance to win. A non-winning play provides an entry that can be assigned to a Golden Prize Draw.

The official Golden Edition campaign page hosts the game board, rules and app links. No purchase is required; the official rules explain the mail-in route for requesting game pieces.

A correct answer to a skill-testing question is required to claim a prize. The official rules should be checked before playing because prize availability, claim steps and odds can change as the promotion continues.
