Piano Piano Expands to Leslieville: Toronto’s Favorite Italian Restaurant Comes to Dundas and Carlaw
Toronto foodies, mark your calendars! Piano Piano, one of the city’s most beloved Italian spots, is making its way to Leslieville, bringing classic Italian dishes and vibrant décor to Toronto’s east end. Known for its indulgent pizzas, hearty pastas, and whimsical interiors, Piano Piano’s new Leslieville location promises to add more culinary excitement to Dundas East.
From Harbord Village Roots to East End Favorite
Chef Victor Barry opened the first Piano Piano on Harbord Street in 2016, creating an approachable Italian dining experience that quickly captured Toronto’s heart. Today, Piano Piano boasts three other popular locations across Toronto in Mount Pleasant, Harbord, and Colborne, plus a spot in Oakville. The team now looks to Leslieville, taking over the former Gare de l’Est space at 1190 Dundas Street East—a location that already has locals eagerly awaiting this new Italian dining experience.
This Leslieville location is still in the works, with job postings currently open for chef de cuisine and sous chef positions. While the exact opening date remains under wraps, it’s clear that Piano Piano has big plans for its newest home in Toronto’s east end.
What to Expect on the Menu
Piano Piano’s appeal goes beyond its gorgeous dining rooms—the food itself is the real draw. Expect to see fan-favorite dishes like the Sweet Hornet Pizza, Mushroom Cavatelli, and their famous Veal Parm on the menu, alongside seasonal specials that rotate throughout the year. Winter brings rich options like Burrata con Funghi, Sea Bass Cioppino, and the Godmother Pizza, each crafted to bring warmth and comfort.
And if you’re a fan of Italian fare at home, you’re in luck: Piano Piano’s frozen pizzas are also available at select grocery stores across Toronto. They’re perfect for those nights when a taste of Italy at home is just what you need.
A One-of-a-Kind Dining Atmosphere
If Piano Piano’s other locations are anything to go by, this new Leslieville spot will feature the restaurant’s signature bold, artful interiors. Each restaurant is designed to create a visual experience as memorable as the meal, from the graffiti-style rose garden murals to dramatic lighting and bold patterns. Their Colborne Street location even has a carousel-themed bar with carnival-style lights and vintage décor, so it’s safe to say the Leslieville location is likely to impress.
Future Studio, known for transforming Piano Piano’s Colborne and Mount Pleasant locations, will likely work their magic here too, creating a space that’s sure to be a feast for the eyes and an Instagram hit.
Where to Find Piano Piano’s New Leslieville Location
Piano Piano’s newest restaurant will be located at 1190 Dundas Street East, right at Dundas and Carlaw.
