TIFF 2024: Riff Raff (Trailer Coming Soon)
What happens when family, loyalty, and murder mix? Director Dito Montiel’s Riff Raff has the answer, and it’s equal parts hilarious and deadly. With an A-list cast featuring Ed Harris, Gabrielle Union, Jennifer Coolidge, and Bill Murray, this pitch-black comedy is set to steal the show at TIFF 2024.
What’s the Plot?
Riff Raff centers around Vince (Ed Harris), a reformed criminal who has left his shady past behind for a quiet life with his wife, Sandy (Gabrielle Union), and their son DJ. They plan to spend New Year’s Eve relaxing at their country home, but that peace is quickly shattered when Vince’s son from his first marriage, Rocco (Lewis Pullman), unexpectedly shows up with his pregnant girlfriend, Marina (Emanuela Postacchini), and his outrageous mother, Ruth (Jennifer Coolidge).
As if the dysfunctional family reunion wasn’t chaotic enough, enter Lefty (Bill Murray), an aging mafioso with a personal vendetta. Lefty isn’t just here for small talk—he’s on a mission, and it involves blood. What unfolds is a riotous blend of family drama, unexpected violence, and hilarious moments, proving that when it comes to family, things can get messy — literally.
