Viral Christmas Recipe: Chocolate Salami

Chocolate Salami is a fun and decadent no-bake treat filled with chocolate, crunchy biscuits, and hazelnuts. Perfect for special occasions or indulgent snacking!

Ingredients

  • 2 cups (180g) digestive biscuits or vanilla wafers, crushed
  • ¾ cup (70-80g) toasted hazelnuts (or other nuts), coarsely chopped
  • 1 cup + 2 tablespoons (200g) dark chocolate, melted
  • ¼ cup + 2 tablespoons (90g) unsalted butter
  • 6 tablespoons (90ml) whole milk
  • A splash of alcohol (optional): Kahlua, Amaretto, brandy, or rum
  • Powdered sugar (for coating)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Dry Mix:
    • Place the biscuits in a large ziplock bag and crush with a rolling pin to create coarse crumbs.
    • Transfer crumbs to a large bowl and stir in the chopped nuts.
  2. Melt the Chocolate:
    • In a medium bowl, combine the dark chocolate and butter. Melt using a double boiler or microwave in short intervals, stirring frequently until smooth.
    • Add the milk and alcohol (if using), and stir until combined.
  3. Combine Mixtures:
    • Pour the melted chocolate mixture into the bowl with the biscuit crumbs and nuts. Mix thoroughly until evenly combined.
  4. Shape the Salami:
    • Spread the mixture onto a sheet of parchment paper or plastic wrap. Use a spatula to shape it into a log.
    • Roll up the parchment/plastic wrap tightly around the log, twisting the ends like candy.
  5. Chill:
    • Refrigerate the log for at least 1 hour, or until firm.
  6. Finish and Serve:
    • Remove the log from the wrap. Dust generously with powdered sugar, coating all sides for a “salami” effect.
    • Brush off any excess sugar. Slice into pieces and serve.

Storage Tips

  • Refrigerator: Keep wrapped in plastic or stored in an airtight container for up to 1 week.
  • Freezer: Store in the freezer for up to 3 months. Let sit at room temperature for a few minutes before slicing or serving.
