Taco Fest 2025: Tacos, Tequila, and Salsa
Taco Fest is returning to Toronto this summer for its ninth year, bringing tacos, music, and a full weekend of food and fun to Fort York. From August 8 to 10, the downtown landmark will turn into a three-day celebration of all things taco, with more than 50 chefs and vendors offering over 250 different taco styles.
The event blends food, drink, and entertainment into one big outdoor party. Whether you’re into spicy salsas, slow-cooked meats, or plant-based fillings, there will be something on the menu for everyone. Fort York, already a historic site, becomes a lively, taco-filled playground during the festival weekend.
Taco Fest Beyond the Shell
This year’s fest will also include tequila tastings, a salsa dancing area, and even a guacamole-making class. It’s a mix of food and culture, where you can grab a taco in one hand and learn about its roots in the other. Here’s a quick look at what visitors can expect:
- Over 250 taco variations
- Hot sauce bar featuring 250+ flavors
- Tequila and mezcal tastings
- Live DJs, mariachi bands, and salsa dancing
- “Guac School” with tips for making fresh guacamole
- The return of the “Best Taco” contest
- Off-menu items exclusive to the event
- 50+ taco vendors (full list to be announced)
Crowd Favorites and New Highlights

One of the returning highlights is the “Best Taco” contest, where visitors can vote for their top pick. Last year’s champion was Rosas, winning with their Camaron y Coco taco—a coconut-crusted shrimp topped with crisp red cabbage, mango salsa sweet chilli, cilantro crema, cilantro.
As for drinks, expect a wide range of tequila and mezcal tastings alongside non-alcoholic options. Fort York transforms into a lively outdoor space, making it easier to try a mix of food and drinks in one spot.
Organizers say the festival is about more than just food. “People don’t just come for the tacos. They come for the full experience,” said Alicia Huerta, one of the event organizers, in an interview. “You can sip mezcal while listening to a mariachi band, then learn to make guacamole like a pro.”
Many attendees return each year because of the welcoming vibe and endless variety. “Last year I came for lunch and ended up staying for six hours,” said Malik Thompson, a local guest quoted. “You go for the tacos, but it’s everything else—the energy, the music, the crowd—that makes you stick around.”
