The Canadian coffee chain is giving cocktail-inspired drinks another round, this time pairing espresso, cold brew, chai and chocolate with zero alcohol.

Second Cup has introduced two new non-alcoholic drinks across participating Canadian locations: the Espresso Mocktini and the Iced Dirty Chai.

The launch marks the second edition of the coffee chain’s Mocktails lineup, following its summer Bellini and Piña Colada-inspired frozen drinks. This round shifts the focus back toward coffeehouse flavours, giving customers two options built around espresso, cold brew, tea and dessert-style finishes.

Both drinks are available until October 19, 2026, at participating Second Cup Café locations across Canada, while supplies last.

WHAT TO KNOW

  • Espresso Mocktini: Espresso topped with creamy chocolate cold foam
  • Iced Dirty Chai: Chai, Second Cup Flash Cold Brew and oat milk
  • Launch date: September 22, 2026
  • Available until: October 19, 2026, while supplies last
  • Where: Participating Second Cup Café locations across Canada

The Espresso Mocktini puts a coffee-shop spin on an Espresso Martini

The Espresso Mocktini takes its cue from the Espresso Martini without trying to recreate the cocktail ingredient for ingredient.

Instead, Second Cup starts with espresso and tops it with creamy chocolate cold foam. The result leans into the combination of deep coffee flavour and a sweeter chocolate finish.

For customers who normally order espresso-forward café drinks but want something with a little more going on, this is likely the more dessert-leaning choice of the two.

It is also worth noting that “mocktail” refers to the absence of alcohol here, not caffeine. With espresso at the centre of the drink, the Mocktini remains firmly in coffee territory.

Second Cup Marketing Director Roxane Desjardins said the team wanted the new menu to blend familiar drink references with coffee flavours and a more playful format.

That approach makes sense for a menu built around an Espresso Martini reference. Instead of moving away from the café category, Second Cup has used the cocktail name as a starting point and brought the drink back to ingredients customers already associate with a coffee shop.

The Iced Dirty Chai combines spice, cold brew and oat milk

The Iced Dirty Chai goes in a different direction.

It combines tea and warming chai spices with Second Cup’s Flash Cold Brew, then finishes the drink with oat milk. A traditional dirty chai generally brings coffee or espresso into a chai latte, and Second Cup’s version uses cold brew to create that coffee-and-spice pairing in an iced format.

Compared with the Espresso Mocktini, the Iced Dirty Chai should appeal more to customers who prefer spiced tea flavours and a milkier drink rather than a chocolate-forward espresso option.

The oat milk also gives the menu item a plant-based milk component as served, although customers with dietary restrictions should still check directly with their local café regarding ingredients and preparation practices.

Second Cup is giving its mocktail menu another run

This is not Second Cup’s first attempt at bringing cocktail references into its cafés.

Earlier in the summer, the chain released frozen drinks inspired by the Bellini and Piña Colada. Edition 2.0 moves away from tropical flavours and into drinks that feel more closely tied to the traditional coffeehouse menu.

That change arrives as alcohol-free drinks continue to take up more room on restaurant, bar and café menus. The broader idea is fairly simple: people can still order a drink with layers of flavour, presentation and a recognizable cocktail reference without adding alcohol.

For Second Cup, coffee gives the concept a natural route into daytime drinking. An Espresso Martini normally belongs to the bar menu, but espresso topped with chocolate cold foam fits just as easily into an afternoon coffee order.

The Iced Dirty Chai works in a similar way. It does not depend on a direct cocktail replica. Instead, it uses the mocktail campaign as a reason to play with existing café categories.

Two very different options, depending on your usual coffee order

Trying to choose between them comes down to the flavours you already tend to order.

  • Espresso Mocktini: A fit for people who tend to like stronger coffee flavour, chocolate notes and creamy cold foam.
  • Iced Dirty Chai: A fit for people drawn to chai spices, oat milk and cold brew.

Neither menu item contains alcohol, but both contain coffee, so customers monitoring their caffeine intake may want to ask their Second Cup location for current ingredient or caffeine information before ordering.

Second Cup has not provided national pricing in the release, and prices may vary by participating location.

The limited-time menu ends October 19

The two drinks are scheduled to remain on menus until October 19, giving customers just under a month to try the second Mocktails release.

Availability is limited to participating cafés and may vary by location or supplies.

Customers can check the Second Cup website for café information and current menu updates. The company also operates its Café Club loyalty program through the Second Cup app.

For Second Cup, Mocktails Edition 2.0 shows how far the mocktail idea can stretch outside the bar. This time, the cocktail references are mostly there to set the tone. The drinks themselves stay rooted in espresso, cold brew, chai, oat milk and chocolate, which means they still make plenty of sense next to your usual coffee order.
