8 Toronto Bars Ranked Among the Best in North America
Toronto just made a strong showing on The World’s 50 Best Bars: North America list for 2025. A total of eight bars from the city are featured this year. Three landed in the Top 50, while five more earned spots in the 51–100 range. The rankings highlight the city’s creative bartenders, smart concepts, and welcoming vibes.
Toronto Bars in the Top 50

Civil Liberties – Ranked #21
This bar doesn’t have a menu. Instead, you tell the bartender what you’re feeling, and they mix something just for you. The team is known for their personal touch and thoughtful drinks. It’s a laid-back spot where locals and visitors alike feel at home.
Bar Pompette – Ranked #29
Attached to the French restaurant Pompette, this bar is all about clean lines and top technique. The drinks lean into European styles and are made with serious attention to detail. Great for slow sipping and easy conversation.
Bar Mordecai – Ranked #40
Bar Mordecai has a cool, hotel-lounge feel with velvet booths and a fun mix of old and new. Their cocktails are clean, sharp, and often come with a twist. It’s a great place for a night out that feels a bit different without trying too hard.
Toronto Bars in the 51–100 List

Library Bar – Ranked #51
Located inside the Fairmont Royal York, Library Bar has a classic Art Deco design and a menu inspired by books and films. One of the most talked-about drinks is the Birdbath Martini, made with local gin and served with flair. It’s calm, stylish, and built for a slower pace.
Civil Works – Ranked #55
Civil Works is based inside Waterworks Food Hall from the same team behind Civil Liberties. The cocktails here are both bold and refined, made to surprise. You’ll find modern design, smart flavors, and a space that feels open and easy to enjoy.
Cry Baby Gallery – Ranked #68
This place starts off looking like an art gallery, but walk through and you’ll find a hidden bar. Cry Baby Gallery serves drinks with ingredients you don’t usually see—like beeswax mezcal and kefir. It’s small, a bit secret, and perfect for anyone who likes something different.
Simpl Things – Ranked #83
This Parkdale bar keeps it simple. There’s a chill happy hour in the afternoon, snacks with Asian flavors, and drinks that feel familiar but fresh. It’s stylish without being flashy, and it’s easy to settle in for the night.
Slice of Life – Ranked #96
One of the newer names on the list, Slice of Life, opened in Little Italy in 2024. They focus on fresh herbs and seasonal ingredients, which gives each drink a clean, garden-like taste. The bright, modern space stands out for its creativity.
These eight bars reflect a wide range of styles — from no-menu spots to speakeasies to hotel lounges. Each one brings something unique to the table, and together, they show how Toronto’s bar scene keeps growing and evolving. As James Grant from Library Bar puts it: “We want every drink to have its own story. That’s what makes it special.”
