TORONTO, ON — Thai Festival Toronto 2026 will return to Sankofa Square on August 29 and 30 for a free weekend of Thai food, cultural programming, performances, local businesses, and family activities.

This year’s event will also recognize 65 years of diplomatic relations between Thailand and Canada. The milestone adds a broader cultural focus to the festival, highlighting long-standing ties between the two countries and the growing Thai-Canadian community in Toronto.

Presented by the Thai Festival Foundation, the two-day event will run from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. on both days. The festival is supported by the Royal Thai Embassy in Ottawa and the Tourism Authority of Thailand, also known as Amazing Thailand.

Food, Culture, and Local Thai Businesses

Thai cuisine will be one of the main draws of the weekend.

Visitors can expect a wide mix of dishes, from familiar street food staples to regional items that are harder to find outside Thailand. Instead of focusing on one featured dish, the festival encourages guests to walk through the food vendors, sample different flavours, and find their own favourites.

The event will also include a marketplace with Thai-owned businesses, small shops, handmade goods, gifts, and products connected to Thai design, food, and culture.

Performances and On-Site Programming

Across the weekend, Thai Festival Toronto 2026 will feature a full lineup of stage and cultural programming.

Guests can expect:

  • Traditional Thai performances
  • Contemporary music
  • Muay Thai demonstrations
  • Thai massage on-site
  • Family-friendly activities
  • Cultural showcases
  • Local business vendors
  • Food from Thai restaurants and vendors
  • Interactive programming throughout the weekend

The event is designed to give visitors a wider view of Thai culture while creating space for Thai artists, entrepreneurs, performers, and community groups.

Marking 65 Years of Thailand-Canada Relations

The 2026 festival takes place during the 65th anniversary year of Thailand-Canada diplomatic relations.

That anniversary gives this year’s event a larger purpose beyond food and entertainment. It also places Thai Festival Toronto within a national moment of cultural exchange and community recognition.

For the Thai Festival Foundation, the goal is to present Thailand with more depth. The organization aims to move beyond surface-level ideas of Thai culture by sharing food, performance, business, art, and community stories in a public downtown setting.
